About the city
Mexico City spreads across its Historic Centre, a Unesco site and the largest colonial ensemble in the Americas. The Zócalo, one of the biggest squares in the world, is flanked by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace with Diego Rivera's murals and the ruins of the Aztec Templo Mayor. From there the pedestrian Madero street runs to the Palace of Fine Arts and the Torre Latinoamericana.
To the west, the tree-lined Paseo de la Reforma links the Angel of Independence with the Chapultepec forest. Neighbourhoods like Roma and Condesa add Art Deco buildings, parks and leafy streets.
