About the city
Valencia revolves around its Ciutat Vella, a historic centre wrapped by the old bed of the River Turia, now a long green park that hugs the city. Inside it stand the Cathedral with the Miguelete bell tower, Plaça de la Verge, the Silk Exchange (a Unesco site) and the modernista Central Market. The Town Hall and Reina squares are the main open spaces.
Following the Turia bed to the south-east you reach the City of Arts and Sciences, with Calatrava's white architecture. Districts like El Carmen add narrow streets, street art and Gothic palaces.
