About the city

Seville holds one of the largest old towns in Europe. The Giralda and the Cathedral dominate the skyline, alongside the Real Alcázar and the Santa Cruz quarter, a maze of whitewashed alleys, courtyards and orange trees. The Guadalquivir river separates the centre from the Triana district and is watched over by the Torre del Oro.

To the north open the Alameda and shopping streets like Sierpes and Tetuán, and to the south the monumental Plaza de España, from the 1929 Exhibition, with its semicircle of ceramic tiles. Mudéjar and Baroque architecture, rich in brick and ceramics, sets the mood.

Pistas para orientarte

The narrow white streets with tiles, iron grilles and orange trees are Seville's signature. Look for the ceramic street-name tiles, the horse-drawn carriages by the Cathedral and the Mudéjar brickwork. The strong sun and sharp shadows help you place yourself. The labyrinthine Santa Cruz is perfect for Hide & Seek and Scotland Yard; the riverside avenues and the Plaza de España suit Rally and Meet-up.
