About the city
Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, sits at about 2,600 metres on an Andean plateau, with the peaks of Monserrate and Guadalupe always to the east as a reference. Its historic centre, La Candelaria, keeps steep cobbled streets, colourful colonial houses and wooden balconies around the Plaza de Bolívar, flanked by the Cathedral, the Capitol and the City Hall.
To the north, Carrera Séptima links the centre with the modern city, passing the Gold Museum and shopping streets. Street art and the murals of La Candelaria give the area a strong character.
Pistas para orientarte
The green hills to the east are the natural compass: if they are in front of you, you are facing east. Notice the colourful colonial houses, the brick of the modern buildings, the red TransMilenio buses in their own lane and the often cloudy sky. Steep, narrow La Candelaria is perfect for Hide & Seek and Scotland Yard; the Séptima and the avenues suit Rally.
